Earlier this week I wrote about the fact that booklet of the ´Live 1969´ cd did not give the date for the St. Louis 1969 show.
Which turned out to be Novemer 2nd when Simon & Garfunkel played Kiel Auditorium.
Also in that booklet it is mentioned that ´Old friends / Bookends´ was recorded on November 1st of 1969 in Toledo.
So far no newspaper information has been found about that 1969 show. But today I found a mentioning of Simon & Garfunkel performing on November 1st at the University of Toledo,
– at the bottom of the article – in 1968. So a mix-up of years?

I have been a fan of Simon & Garfunkel since my early childhood introduction, I am 40 now. I was perusing “Live 69” this evening and noticed the “Bookends” recording from Toledo, my hometown, and home of 35 years. I found this article trying to find where the concert was performed. If I find any specifics I will return and let you know.. Thanks for being here!!
According to the setlist from this website, you are correct. It appears as if they played Toedo and the area in 1968, November 1. In 1969 they got as close as Detroit and Columbus..

Hello Tadd, thanks for your reply. A lot of the info on Dreamer of Music, the best PS Site there is at the moment, comes from me or my blog. I have been searching for magazine announcements, writing to College librarians where I thought they could or would have played. And this is the list with what I can come up so far. It’s growing still though. There also some audience recordings around of that period, which makes it even more fun. A shame you can not have seen them perform in that period. I was 13 when I got interested in -their- music, right at the same time when they split in 1970.
Simon & Garfunkel performed at the University of Toledo fieldhouse on Friday,Nov.1,1968. I was at the concert but could never remember the date until I ran across a review of the show that appeared in the Toledo Blade on the following Wednesday.,Nov.6th.
