On January 7th of 1966 Simon & Garfunkel made an appearance at the Thumps-Up show in the Sherwood Lodge (in Rockford. IL) located on the Forest Hills Road. This might be the earliest ‘known performances’ known so far.

Very interesting post! However the concert was in Rockford. Ill. There is no Rockford NY. The Rockford Register (Star) is an Ill paper. The Shadows of Knight (great group!!!!) and the Little Boy Blues were both Chicago bands, and the DJ was from WLS, the big Chicago station. Of course, the fact that it was on a “Forest Hills Road” (Yep, there’s one in R,I) is a great and funny irony!!!

Thank you for you comment. I will correct the post with your info.
……and shame on me because in the 1966 list (https://roboud56.wordpress.com/the-60s/1965-69/simon-garfunkel-1966/) I had it correct the first time!
