When the album “Still cray after all these years” was released I was almost 19.
And this album still means a lot to me. I used to work at the local record shop, besides attending school.
But I never thought about the picture on the cover too much. It was the music that was important. Paul on the fire-escape at a New York building. The hat, yes, that made some impression. But did you ever wonder where it was taken exactly? Not me, living at the other side of the world, I could not have imagined it too.
But there’s one person who got curious and tried to find it. It was Crosby Street in NYC. The result was presented here:

And also the picture of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Wednesday Morning 3 AM” has been subject to his search for the exact location.
Where was the picture on the front cover of ” Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits ” taken ?7 East 94th Street, NYC is the location. Paul lived in a townhouse, where the famous Andres Segovia had live before. See here for the extra info.
