I knew from the information given to me by Cobi Scheijer in the late ’90s that Paul Simon performed in Holland at the end of 1965, but was it in November or December?
Now it is confirmed by an editorial in CashBox Magazine:

December 1st 1965: on the day he arrived in Holland he performed in Haarlem (near Amsterdam) in De Waag.
And on the 6th he would appear on Dutch TV as well.

Paul Simon was – indeed – in Holland (the country I am stll living’ in the year of 1965.
He performed at – indeed – ‘De Waag’ in the city of Haarlem which was ‘the place to be for ‘folkies’ like Paul Simon.
Paul Simon not being aware of the fact the Dutch had on this specific day – the 5th of December 1965 – it was the most unlucky day for performing. Reason: during that time it was (and it still is) an kind of ‘Sinterklaas’ Eve (to be compared with the American ‘Santa Klaus’
In Holland this day is called ‘Sinterklaas-avond’.
Poor Paul Simon he had a couple of visitors An amount of 17 .
The next year Paul Simon would return with his partner. I do not mention the name of this partner.
They performed not asking ‘any dime’ Date I really do not know.
I have a vid for you regarding all songs they performed ‘Of course ‘black and white’.
Pls. check out this Dutch page. I`ve made a translation for you. Kind regards sent to you by Corry

They took the info from my blog LOL
I just happened an article I already have known. This is all about Paul Simon In Holland December 1965 en the following what happened in the year of 1966
I`ve translated this article into English for ‘a better understanding’ this stuff.
Also potographs have been posted:
‘At the end of 1965, the still unknown folk singer Paul Simon was in the Netherlands. He was allowed to sleep at the home of Cobi Schreyer (1922-2005) and perform in the Waag, in Haarlem along the Spaarne, of which the artist was the manageress at the time’.
‘In the Netherlands he knew that his song ‘Sound of Silence’ had entered the charts of Billboard that week. Because record company CBS had ‘messed’ with the recording he made, Simon was far from happy to be in the top 100. You can read here what I wrote from his mouth in 1965 ‘
‘Six months later, Paul Simon was back in the Netherlands, this time in the company of Art Garfunkel and manager Mort Lewis.
Lewis previously looked after the business interests of Dave Brubeck and the Brothers Four, among others.
They made recordings for the NCRV TV (director: Andries Roest) and performed again in the Waag. Cobi Schreyer said they did that for free.
This time Simon slept in the Amstel Hotel (Amsterdam). (see pic added in this article).
‘In June 1966 I was there [HK] again.
Before the performance I had a conversation with the duo, which after ‘Sounds of silence; (highest rating: 1) had hits with ‘Homeward Bound’ (number 5) and ‘I am a rock’ (number 3), songs that Simon already sang in De Waag in 1965.
(Note frpm my side: I know for sure all songs performed by the duo were former Paul Simon Songs. Except the ‘Sound of Silence’ Paul Simon ceated this song in his hometown NYC locking himself up into the bathroom for feeling ‘devastaded’ by the assasination on John F. Kenedy that took place on November 23rd 1963 at Dallas TX USA).

Date: Tuesday, June 28, 1966, approx. 6 PM. Place: De Waag, Haarlem
HK: “Everyone is talking about the fact that you have so much comment on your own records. For example, you can no longer come across a newspaper in England, or it contains a story full of self-pity by Simon & Garfunkel ”.
Paul Simon: “I can’t believe it! We are very proud of what we do, but as I already told you in December [1965], the lords of our society are often a bit skittish with the provision of unnecessary accompaniment, so that the record sometimes goes wrong, that is, according to our artistic taste. This was especially the case with ‘Sounds of Silence’.
HK: “What about covering your songs?”
Art Garfunkel: “That is quite hit and miss. We both think ‘Someday one day’ by The Seekers is a great record and it is a clear mystery that he sold so badly. Things have gone crazy with ‘Red Rubber Ball’. One of the people from The Cyrkle played with us in the accompaniment group. We had ‘Red Rubber Ball’ on our repertoire at the time, but just didn’t think the song was strong enough to record it ourselves. The Cyrkle was soon founded and ‘Red Rubber Ball’ is now on the charts. Which does not detract from the fact that we think it is a very bad record ”.
HK: “Are there any more records you think are bad at the moment?”
AG: “Oh, enough. What I don’t like, for example, is the success of ‘Strangers in the night’ [Frank Sinatra]. But not to keep it negative: I just love the Stones LP ‘Aftermath’ ”.
HK: “Can you tell us something about your next records?”
PS: “We are currently working on a new LP. We have already recorded six songs of which ‘Dangling Conversation’ will probably be released as the next single. But also ‘A poem on the underground war’ or ‘Patterns’ (from the ‘Paul Simon Song Book’ LP) are eligible. You never know in advance what your society is doing, but they will want the best for us ”.
HK: “What do you see as the great promise of the future?”
AG: “I personally see a lot in a brand new English singer who works more or less on the folk tour. His name is Bert Jansch and if you see him on the charts soon, don’t be surprised. What also reminds me that Donovan will break through completely, especially in America ”.
HK: “I have a feeling that interest in beat is definitely diminishing. Do you see a real successor? ”
AG: “You may not want to believe it, but I strongly believe that the French song will do it all over the world in the near future. You just feel it coming in America. I would not want to mention an artist who will now count especially, but after the British sound comes the French sound. Incidentally, the beat will never disappear, I don’t even think it is waning ”.
HK: “What do you think of your earnings?”
AG: “You just had to know what we earn. We can just ask what we want and people just pay. If you look at it honestly, we earn much, much more than we actually earn, even if you take into account that it may end completely in some time. But let’s be happy that things are going so well financially ”.
‘HK: “What do you think of Bob Dylan?”
AG: “We all agree that he has changed quite a bit.
About three years ago, he felt and was the great forerunner of a whole new generation – his way of writing, singing and thinking would revolutionize.
That revolution has taken place and Bob Dylan has benefited from it.
He no longer has to worry, he no longer has to protest and he does not. It is extremely popular in America, but I believe that the criticisms here are not very tender and we definitely want to join in with that. ”
HK: “How long would the success last?”
PS: “Definitely another day or three”.
( Note from my side: this is a specific example of the kind of humor of Paul Simon.
You can like or dislike this kind of humor I like it for sure.
Paul Simon is still speaking in this way until nowadays).
