1980: Paul Simon in Concert

This blog is never complete. We receive corrections to the content posted so far, but also updates with new concert-dates.

This week Roy sent some new information regarding the 1980 “One-trick Pony” tour in the US:

This poster is for the October 10 show at the Fox Theater in Georgia, Atlanta.

1965: Demo “Build your love”

In 1965 Paul Simon teamed up with writer / composer Mike Hawker to write songs together. Hawker was famous and known for songs like:

  • Helen Shapiro – Walkin’ back to happiness

And one of the songs Simon and Hawker wrote together ended up on Mercury Records in 1965.

On youtube you can hear part of the demo he made for “Build Your Love”:

But so far I have not been able to find more from the collaboration Hawker and Simon. Anyone more information?

1966 The Mike Douglas Show

The Mike Douglas Show (1961–1982)
Episode #5.91
Comedy, Music, Talk-Show | Episode aired 10 January 1966

Janet Blair is co-host. Guests are folk rock duo Simon and Garfunkel

  • The Sound Of Silence
  • You Can Tell The World
  • Mr. Tambourine Man

Simon & Garfunkel performed of course their US-hit “The Sound of Silence” unaccompanied.

This performance is unique for the perfomance of  “You can tell the world” accompanied by an unknown drummer and bassplayer.

And they ended the show with hit by The Byrds “Mr Tambourine Man”.

Both songs, as far as we know, never heard again during a perfomance.

I thank Corry for her input.
