“Paul Simon going strong at 74” the caption reads. There was some interpretation, this summer,  about Simon going to retire. But as the reporter writes the audience did not notice this.

On June 14th 1972 Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel played a 30 minute gig during the Benefit for George McGovern during his campaign for President of the United States in 1972.
