1966: European tour

1966 must have been a strange year for Simon & Garfunkel. Strange but not bad at all of all, especially when you have been working all these years for success. ‘The sound of silence’ becoming a world success, recording their new album ‘Sounds of Silence’ and touring as upcoming big artists. The world was ready for their music.

After spending several years in England and on the European mainland as well, going back to Europe was not strange for them at all. Columbia used every opportunity to put them in the spotlights. BBC shows, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, you name it. In the Billboard of July 9th 1966, this newsflash was published:

If there’s anyone who has more information about the Swedish TV show and / or the Denmark 4th of July gig, please do not hesitate to write us. Which reminds of the fact that Paul Simon was playing in Denmark when he heard that ‘The sound of silece’ was becoming a hit. Is there any source that could tell us more about these gigs, the folkclubs he played in, where, etc. It would fill in another gap in this part of his career, here at ‘Time it was’.

1970 Simon & Garfunkel in Paris

A long time I was not sure on which date Simon & Garfunkel performed in Paris, during their 1970 tour in Europe. It was mentioned in the Billboard of May 23rd 1970:

So the date is May 3rd, 1970.

Besides that there is a very nice bootleg recording of their show, maybe there are readers in France, I am still not sure which concert hall they played. Could it have been L`Olympia? Anyway, all additional info is welcomed!
