Paul Simon’s new album coming in April

Not really news, since it has been in the media for some time now, but Paul Simon’s long awaited new album ‘So beautiful or so what’ (Concord Compact Discs) will be out early April this year. On Amazon com there’s a small introduction on film in which Paul talks about the process of the making of the album. In MOJA Magazine (Feb 2011) there was a one-page-feature about him. A UK tour is coming along with the release and hopefully some on the European mainland as well.

Bridge over troubled water 40th Anniversary Edition with extra’s coming

March 8th will see the release of a very special edition of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge over troubled water’. Although a year late, as the album was released early February 1970, Columbia’s Legacy Recordings will release this lp along with a DVD, as the 40th Anniversary Editon. The DVD has ‘a making of the album’-special, but also the 1969 TV show Simon & Garfunkel made, called   ‘Songs for America’. And there will be a booklet with lots of information. You can pre-order it now at Amazon!

Article in Record Collector Magazine January 2011

The English Record Collector magazine of January 2011 has a 1 page article about Simon & Garfunkel.

A day before their march 18th, 1967, concert in London’s Royal Albert Hall, Paul and Art recorded a TV special for Granada Television.

He was my brother
Leaves that are green
A most peculiar man
Homeward bound
For Emily, whenever I may find her
The dangling conversation
The 59th Street Bridge song (Feelin’ groovy)
Richard Cory
7 O’clock News / Silent night
A hazy shade of winter
At the zoo
Cloudy
Benedictus
Blessed
A poem on the underground wall
I am a rock
Anji
The sound of silence

The show would was broadcasted on May 2nd, 1967. And then went into to the vaults, where it probably will stay forever too. It is not likely to be released officially.

This was not the first Simon & Garfunkel TV appearance in the UK:

1966-07-08 : ITV – Ready steady go!
1966-07-14: BBC TV – Top of the pops
