Kane and Garr in 1963

As you all know finding information about the concerts Simon & Garfunkel gave is one of the main focusses of this site.
Early days are difficult to find information about. In 1963 months before they would record their lp ” Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.” for Columbia Records they hang around Greenwich Village in New York City and sang in clubs, like The Cafe Wha or Folk City. But when and whereexactly? And now at long last we have one date.

Recently David Brown’s “Talking Greenwich Village” was published.

And Kane and Garr are mentioned in it. They opened on October 22 in 1963 for Clarence ” Tom ” Ashelye and the Irish Ramblers at Folk City. One of the songs they sang was ” Bleecker Street”.

The book also brings a lot of info about Paul Simon’s connection with others like the Roche Sisters.

In general it is, besides Simon & Garfunkel, a very interesting book and shares lot of (new) info about America’s Bohemian Musical Capital.
