As a follow up to the earlier post of today with the video of the UK TV performance, there’s a Simon & Garfunkel performance at Shivaree on NewYears Day 1966:
Playing;
The well known flip-side of ‘The sound of silence”
Art Garfunkel is playing electric rhythm guitar.
The Mike Douglas Show (1961–1982)
Episode #5.91
Comedy, Music, Talk-Show | Episode aired 10 January 1966
Janet Blair is co-host. Guests are folk rock duo Simon and Garfunkel
Simon & Garfunkel performed of course their US-hit “The Sound of Silence” unaccompanied.
This performance is unique for the perfomance of “You can tell the world” accompanied by an unknown drummer and bassplayer.
And they ended the show with hit by The Byrds “Mr Tambourine Man”.
Both songs, as far as we know, never heard again during a perfomance.
I thank Corry for her input.
According to this advertisement in CashBox:

Paul and Art were playing a week long at the Riverboat Coffee House in Canada’s Toronto,
A bit confusing is the fact that they also played a show on March 30th at Ithaca College Gynasium, which is in the New York State in the USA.
Thanks to Lars Fyledal from Sweden we now know that Simon & Garfunkel were booked for a concert on July 3rd 1966 in Sweden’s Liseberg (Gothenburg).
According to Lars the concert was cancelled because of throat problems of Paul Simon.
A Swedish newspaper writes:
Simon & Garfunkel är bokade för en spelning på Pop In söndagen den 3 juli. Duon, bestående av Paul Simon och Art Garfunkel, slog igenom något år tidigare med The Sound of Silence och kommer till Göteborg som en av USA:s hetaste akter.

Men någon spelning blir det inte. Paul Simon får problem med halsen och tvingas kasta in handduken. Därför hamnar Simon & Garfunkel på listan över ”världsstjärnor som nästan uppträdde på Liseberg”.
Lars translates it for us:
Liseberg (Gothenburg) loses Simon & Garfunkel
Simon & Garfunkel is booked for a concert in Pop In on sunday the 3d of July. The duo, consisting of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, had a breakthrough some year earlier with The Sounds of Silence is coming to Gotheburg as one of the hottest acts in USA. But there was no gig. Paul Simon got problem with his throat and the gig is cancelled. Simon & Garfunkel gets on the list of “worldfamous stars that nearly performed at Liseberg”.
Was it realy a throat problem, because they did perform on July 3rd, in Stockholm:
1966-07-03 Tyrolen, Gröna Lund, Stockholm

During the 1966 Homecoming weekend Simon & Garfunkel were booked to perform 2 shows on November 5th (5pm and 8pm) at Mundelein College in Chicago.
The picture above comes from the student newspaper ” The Skyscraper” of October 19th 1966.
In another article about these concerts, there is mentioning of the fact that the duo has appeared at McCormick Place. That was on March 31st, earlier that same year. In my list of concerts I had it under ” Arie Crown Theater “.
About the concert is written in The Skyscraper edition of November 16th, the following:

Financially the concert seems not to have been going that well for the College, there was talk about “to alleviate the Simon & Garfunkel deficit” .
I thank Aine Boylan for sharing the info here.
