Where were you 55 years ago on April 11th? I was in a recordshop and buying my first 45rpm:

Simon & Garfunkel’s El Condor Pasa / Why don’t your write me was a major hit in the Netherlands. I remember playing it 100times, it drove most of the family nuts. I was a fan and hooked to the music of this great duo.

Next singles were “Cecilia / So long, Frank Lloyd Wright“, “Bridge over troubled water / Keep the cyustomer satisfied“, “Mrs Robinson / Old Friends/Bookends” and “The Boxer / Baby Driver“.

1970: Simon & Garfunkel in Amsterdam

Right now a poster for sale on eBay for this event:

The concert started at the end of the 2nd of May and ran into early hours of the 3rd. As mentioned on the poster “No Television”, luckily it was recorded for Dutch radio and broadcasted 2 weeks later by VARA Radio.

There was a lot of discussion about the prices of tickets…the poster is now for sale for 1250US$.

50 years ago, on January 26th in 1970, Simon & Garfunkel’s epic album ‘Bridge over troubled water‘ was released by Columbia Records.

There’s no news from Columbia Records if there will be a special release of this album, besides the one that was released some 10 years ago.

Here on this blog many postings will be published with information about this album, the single-45rpm’s that were taken from it, etc etc.

BOTW Stereo Label A Side
Demo version in Stereo

BOTW Mono Label B Side

And ofcourse the many album-versions that followed.

Anyway, another good reason to play this wonderful album again.
