Jackson C. Frank

Jim Abbott posted this comment, or better a request, recently on this blog:

I am looking for similar info and reviews of Jackson C Frank, from the same era–1965 and 1968. If you have any at all, or can locate them , please contact me at jimbob12404@yahoo.com I was Jack’s freidn and guardian and am trying to fnish a book about him.   I cannot afford to go to the UK so I have the internet to work with. Thank you.

Maybe readers of this blog have more info that might be usefull to Jim. You can reach Jim at the above mentioned email-address.
If you any infomation about the cooperation between Jackson C. Frank and Paul Simon (& Art Garfunkel) in the UK in 1964/1965 you are also invited to share that info here, on this blog!

I have been through the Melody Makers that I have, but only one time Jackson’s name is mention: his farewell concert at Les Cousins on December 17th (Melody Maker December 18 1965)

    1. Looking for information for your fictitious book again so that you can steal more money from people Jim? People are watching for you everywhere and you will always be shown up for the person you are until you own up and pay back the money. If you were really a friend of Jackson’s you would not sully his memory by using his name to steal.

Anyone who doubts the truth of what I say about Jim Abbott please visit here

and read the stories of others. Scroll past his excuses and denials then read the truth. Pretty silly denying it when you consider he still uses the email jimbob12404 that he used to solicit funds from people under false pretences.

  1. Hi – very interested to read this link – and became even more excited when we read the name Jim Abbott!
I came across it whilst searching for images of Jackson and anything connected to him because myself, my husband and a couple of friends have written a musical piece about his life. We are to perform it – covers, original songs and poetry – at a music festival next month. We live in England though so doubt if you’ll be able to make it…
I’m putting together a slide show which will also accompany the music. I note that the internet has very few images and was wondering if roboud56 could also send me the scans of the two entries he’s found so that I might include them in our project.
    Thanks very much,
    Sue Clarke

  2. Paul Simon produced Jackson’s album ‘The blues run the game’ in ’65 in London. Paul, Jackson, Al Stewart and a horde of other muso’s shared a flat together. Paul was recording his ‘Songbook’ album at the same time. Jackson played numerous folk club gigs around London and the suburbs.

    1. We are still trying to investigate Paul’s shows in the folkclubs in the years 1964/1965. In May I will be visiting the British Library to research magazine from that period. Also there is still a need in investigating the shows of Jackson C Frank.

      1. roboud, thanks for posting this Jackson C. Frank information! However, I’m a little curious about the date of it. You said, “I have been through the Melody Makers that I have, but only one time Jackson’s name is mention: his farewell concert at Les Cousins on December 17th (Melody Maker December 18 1965).” Why would a promo for a Dec. 17 concert be in a Dec. 18. issue of a magazine? Also, is that the same concert that you also have listed as Dec. 23, 1965 that Paul Simon played at? Both say they’re farewell shows for Jackson C. Frank.

      2. Bryan, I understand and it is confusing.
The MM’s were published or available on the Thursday before the so-called publication date, which is a Saturday. In the December 18th issue the Folk Club Ladder runs from Thursday 16th until Wednesday 22nd. So when you bought the issue mentioned on Thursday you could see that the Frank farewell concert was coming. So the information is for ” days before” and ” days after” the publication date.
There could be one or two mistakes made by me, but I hope I have the dates right now. But if I still have, please let me know.
